Hey all, I keep getting informed by my friends and followers of other users uploading my and several other artists artwork without their permission. One of them in particular even made it in the way that only watchers can see their stolen art: https://www.deviantart.com/dinnadour/art/Cherry-Blossom-Dragoness-Dh71a6t-full-1039861306 I already filed a DMCA and the DA staff is working on it. Be careful out there, report these degenerates as soon as possible. Betty/Sev

Serious Question: A New DA
I'm trying to convince my husband, a software engineer with years of experience building websites and the like, to make a new DA-like site. There are plenty out there already, but everyone I have seen who comments about these other websites say they are missing something. So I want to know from the people out there, if a website could be made for you to post your art, what would you want from it? Of course, #1 rule would be no AI "art". I would never support it, and my husband certainly wouldn't ever support it. Tempted for the slogan to be "real artists only" lmao is that too on the nose? (Obv any person who makes their own art no matter the media is a real artist, I'm talking about non-generated bullshit). There's a lot of logistical problems we'd need to take care of, like a moderation team (that's actually trustworthy), how to pay people for their time, how to make money to pay people, server space and likely thousands of other things I can't even begin to comprehend... We're
Hello, all. It's been a long while, I know. In case the writing on the wall isn't clear, I've officially decided that I will no longer be posting on DeviantART. The community I'm a part of here is still awesome, but this site has changed so much, and in my opinion, not for the better. All the activities I used to find joy in--groups, chats, etc--have pretty much been lost in favor of pandering to AI art. It's sad, really. I used to have so much fun here, and finding community was a breeze. Now it's a chore. Not to mention, with my long stint here, I've been subjected to a lot of the not-so-pleasant side of fandom communities, which has long since left a bad taste in my mouth. I gave it a good run, some 14 years between numerous accounts, but I think it's time to officially close the curtain on this chapter of my life. KIRIN is going to stay up on DA in its current form. If I'm honest, I have no desire to work on the comic proper again. I don't have the energy to go back to the

Anti AI alternatives to DA and my experience.
So I've been actively deleting most of my gallery. I had 1300 deviations to start, and Da lovingly took out the ability to bulk delete your images, and put a nice little shitty note about how they won't do it for you So kind. Let's be honest, it's to keep images on their site and make the process of leaving that much more a pain in the ass. Because if the images aren't up on here, then how will they soullessly scrape your hard work for big WixBucks? Why did it feel weirdly cathartic to delete 9 daily deviations??? Anyways. So I've been looking into alternatives to DA. SheezyArt - My SheezyArt Page SheezyArt, I think, will be the genuine successor to DA. Ironically, for people not old as sin and don't know, SheezyArt *used* to be the direct competitor of deviantart back in like...2003 -2013. Relaunched in 2021, it's currently in a beta until 2025. That means unless you pay 3 bucks, you have to try and fight for an hourly free account slot. (just don't bother, I tried at like
Kinda neat to see a reincarnation of Sheezy.art, even if in beta stage. So I've got an account there now: https://sheezy.art/zhakrisstol With other online galleries/hosting sites becoming hostile towards actual artists (Fuck AI and all that shit! - looking at you deviantart and tumblr), I might actually become more active and inspired.

Let's Talk AI - The Robots Will Destroy us All
So… This AI thing… I wasn’t sure if I was going to talk on this issue or not, and what it means for me, the future of art as a career, DA, and my opinion on it and stuff. Buuut it seems everyone is talking about it, and some people are leaving DA as a result, so I just wanted to let you know where I’m at. First off, AI itself is a mixed bag of…. Meh. As we know, AI generators can not actually create unique and creative images out of no-where. Like humans, it creates what it has known and observed. Unlike humans, it’s not observing things from real life and instead observes data and images online. Unfortunately, that means using the images and data of art from real-life artists that were posted online. For the sake of reference, learning, exploring ideas, and so on, I actually think AI can be a really good resource, but in no way is clicking a button with key words your own original content. It’s a hodgepodge of images stolen from real artists online, and that’s where the issue with AI
Hey so, I’m probably older than you think. In high school, I remember my friend bragging to me about an invite code he got for this new website, ‘DeviantArt.’ It was this cool new place users could post their art to, make friends, get inspired, so on. Once upon a time, that was a novelty. DA has never been my ‘main’ hub online, but it’s always had a special place in my heart. I’ve been active on this account since 2007. It really sucks they leaned so hard into the antithesis of art and the community that it once fostered. I appreciate all of you who read my comic here. I really, really do— you guys often have some of the best comments and reactions to things. I love it, so thank you. Bare with me, though, because I think this is important. AI poisons the digital world just as it takes a massive environmental toll on the real world. This site is a great example. I used to find neat art with a point of view, with intention. Now, I am only ever shown regurgitated garbage without
I am utterly disgusted with DeviantArt's pro ai stance, propping up blatant art laundering and bragging publicly about how much money they make ripping human artists off. Despite this, I am extremely hesitant to leave a community I've been a part of for so SO many years, especially since it's integral to my business to continue posting here. I have, however, started deleting items from my gallery for the first time ever. I wanted to warn followers in case you want to save anything, as this is my most extensive gallery online. In case you all are outta here, you can follow me here: Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/eskiworks.bsky.social Tumblr - https://eskiworks.tumblr.com/ FurAffinity - https://www.furaffinity.net/user/wolf-nymph/ Website (new and slowly building) - https://www.eskiworks.art/ If I do decide to deactivate my account, I will definitely give ya'll a heads up.
I am really having a hard time coming up with anything to say about this that won't get me banned. I still rely on platforms like DA to make money, what little of it is still going to actual artists. This isn't just a slap in the face, this is metaphorically being kicked down and spat on after taking your wallet and shoes. They brag about enabling people who sit around and enter little keywords over and over again, using the work of thousands and thousands of people who actually worked hard to create something real. Devianart and every single person who makes money off ai imagery owes royalties. I would go as far as saying companies who use data sets with stolen artwork owe damages as well. Our careers are being negatively effected while shit-heel thieves pocket easy money off our hard work. I literally can't afford to leave DA, I still get commissions through here (despite the drastically lowered traffic from my community in the last few years). If any staff responsible for making
Well, the next phase of dA's death spiral has arrived and there is, understandably, another mass exodus! For everyone leaving, here are the other places I post. I'll stick around for a little while - I'm having difficulty coming to terms with leaving so much history behind. However, it's becoming difficult to tolerate dA's blatant stupidity, so I don't know how much longer I'll last.
